Common Login Problems & Fixes

1

❌ "Wrong username or password" error

If admin/admin doesn't work: (1) check the sticker on the extender underside — some units ship with a unique password; (2) try leaving the password field blank; (3) factory reset the extender to restore defaults.

2

❌ Login page not loading

Make sure you're connected to the extender's _Ext WiFi — not your home WiFi. If the page still doesn't load, use 192.168.10.1 instead of ap.setup. See the full not working guide.

3

❌ Login page keeps spinning/loading

Clear your browser cache (Settings → Clear Browsing Data → Cached images and cookies). Then try again, or use a different browser. Incognito/private mode often helps.

4

❌ Logged in but dashboard is blank or broken

This usually means your browser cached a broken version. Hard-refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac). Or try a different browser.

🔄 Forgot Your ap.setup Password? Factory Reset

If you changed the admin password and forgot it, a factory reset is the only recovery method.

  1. Ensure the extender is powered on.
  2. Find the Reset pinhole (usually on the side or bottom).
  3. Press and hold with a pin for 10 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly.
  4. Wait 90 seconds for full reboot.
  5. Reconnect to the _Ext WiFi (password reset to none).
  6. Go to ap.setup or 192.168.10.1 and log in with admin / admin.
⚠️ Factory reset erases all settings. You'll need to re-run the full ap.setup configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ap.setup login the same as 192.168.10.1?

Yes — both open the same login page. 192.168.10.1 is the direct IP address and is more reliable when ap.setup doesn't resolve. Once logged in, the dashboard is identical.

How do I change my ap.setup login password?

After logging in to ap.setup, go to Advanced › Administration › Password (location varies by firmware). Enter your current password and a new one. Make note of it — there's no recovery except a factory reset.

Can I access ap.setup login from outside my home?

No. ap.setup is a local network address — it only works when you're physically connected to the extender's WiFi or via Ethernet. It cannot be accessed from the internet.

My phone keeps disconnecting from the extender WiFi

This is a common phone behaviour — when it detects no internet on the extender's WiFi, it auto-switches to mobile data. When prompted "No Internet, stay connected?" tap Yes / Stay Connected. On Android: go to Advanced WiFi settings and disable "Switch to mobile data automatically".
