Before You Start

You need:
  • Wavlink AC2100 extender
  • Working router with internet access
  • Phone, tablet, or laptop
  • Power socket near the router
Know in advance:
  • Your home WiFi network name (SSID)
  • Your home WiFi password
  • Default extender login: admin / admin

Hardware Installation

Physical setup before accessing ap.setup.

📦1

Unbox & inspect

Remove packaging. Check no LEDs or ports are damaged. Note the model number on the underside sticker.

📍2

Initial placement

For setup, place near your router in the same room. You'll move it to the optimal position after configuration.

🔌3

Power on

Plug into a wall socket. Wait 60–90 seconds for the LED to stabilise. A solid or slowly blinking green means it's ready.

How to Set Up Wavlink AC2100 via ap.setup

Follow these steps from any connected device.

1

Connect to the extender's WiFi

On your phone or laptop, open WiFi settings and connect to the network named Wavlink_AC2100_Ext or similar (ends in _Ext). No password required at this stage.

💡 On iPhone/Android, if asked about "No Internet" — tap Stay Connected or Use Without Internet. This is expected — the extender has no internet yet.
2

Open your browser and navigate to ap.setup

Launch Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Tap the address bar at the top (not the search box). Type: ap.setup or 192.168.10.1 and press Enter.

⚠️ If ap.setup opens a search page, your browser is treating it as a search. Use http://ap.setup with the http:// prefix, or switch to 192.168.10.1.
3

Log in to the Wavlink dashboard

Enter username admin and password admin. Click Login. If these don't work, check our login troubleshooting guide or reset the extender.

4

Select your home WiFi network

In the AP Setup Wizard, select Repeater Mode (default). A list of nearby WiFi networks appears — select your home router network. Enter its password and click Connect or Apply.

5

Wait for reboot and test

The Wavlink AC2100 reboots over about 2 minutes. The extended network will appear with _Ext added. Connect your device to it — you should now have internet through the extender.

💡 Once setup is complete, move the extender midway between your router and the area needing coverage.

📲 WPS Setup Method (Quickest)

Requires a WPS button on your router. Takes under 3 minutes.

  1. Plug the AC2100 in near your router. Wait for solid LED.
  2. Press the WPS button on the extender.
  3. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your main router.
  4. Wait for both LEDs to turn solid — setup complete.
⚠️ If no connection after 3 minutes, your router may have WPS disabled. Use the manual ap.setup method above instead.

🖥️ Access Point (AP) Mode

Wired setup for maximum stability. Connects via Ethernet cable.

  1. Run an Ethernet cable from a LAN port on your router to the WAN/LAN port on the AC2100.
  2. Power on the extender and connect your device to its WiFi.
  3. Open ap.setup → log in → select Access Point Mode.
  4. Set a network name and password, click Apply.

🔄 How to Reset Wavlink AC2100 to Factory Settings

Use this if you forgot the login password or need to start over.

  1. Ensure the extender is powered on (LED lit).
  2. Find the Reset pinhole on the extender body.
  3. Use a pin or straightened paperclip to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
  4. Release when the LED flashes rapidly — the extender is resetting.
  5. Wait 90 seconds for the extender to fully reboot with factory settings.
  6. Re-run the setup using ap.setup from Step 1 above.
⚠️ Warning: A factory reset erases all custom settings including your WiFi password and SSID changes. Only do this if you cannot access the admin panel.

ap.setup is not opening on my Wavlink AC2100

Make sure you're connected to the extender's _Ext WiFi (not your home WiFi). Type http://ap.setup with http:// to prevent https redirection. Alternatively use 192.168.10.1 — it's more reliable. For a full list of fixes, see ap.setup not working.
